It may be cold but summer swim is heating up!

    Hello Vikings!

We are almost ready to kick off summer swim team registration!

As you know by now, Vermack runs by the generosity of so many of its member volunteers. Therefore we will be introducing a few new things this year to help keep us running smoothly.

First, we will be asking for each family for a one time concessions donation ( around a $10 range) to be brought to the pool during practices before meets start to help boost our volunteer-run concession stand (think case of water, chips, etc.). More info will come later on that!

Second, we will be asking for meet day volunteer shifts to be filled before registration can be completed. The registration process will walk you through how to select your volunteer preferences.

We are so fortunate that many people have already stepped up willing to help so far. Specifically we are looking for (please reply if you can do one of these!):

    • Pre-Meet Coordinator (almost all done behind the computer at your convenience the week of a meet, send email to other team with logistics, send email starter to coordinate payment, meet starter and arrange payment at the meet, send team email with logistics and important info as needed pertaining to the upcoming meet)
    • Sponsorship Co-Chair to work with Blair Harrigan on sending out sponsor asks, securing sponsors, and following up with banners and recognition during/at meets. Basically coordinate all sponsor benefits.

Thank you for your help with the above items. In addition, we are fortunate that most of our amazing coaches want to return to have the best summer ever. Depending on swimmer numbers, we may have the opportunity to add additional coaches (16 & up are required to be lifeguard certified (at half of their own expense) prior to season and junior coaches (must be able to swim proficiently and teach all four stroke techniques). Remember that all our coaches generally compete on a school team or year round team and are able to help your kids learn and grow in the sport. Since this is a short season from early May until the end of June but a big commitment with both morning AND evening practices, 5 evening meets and 1 day long meet at GA Tech, please don’t reach out unless you can commit. You (not your parent) can reach out to Peggy Smith at [email protected] no later than February 2 if you’d like to schedule an interview.

Keep an ear out for Registration to open in early February! Go Vikings!!!!
